Best 10 travel accessories when you’re travelling

Are you constantly on the hunt for new apps and new technology to make life easier when travelling?  Here’s 10 of the Best Travel Accessories to take on a trip.

Gone are the days when I simply stuffed things into a bag and ran for the airport and disappeared for weeks on end.  Today I’m well connected and carry a range of ‘essential’ accessories with me wherever I go!

We’ve come up with a list of the 10 best travel accessories to take with you when you’re travelling to make your trip safer, easier or simply more enjoyable.

Best travel accessories when travelling

I must admit I do love my technology.  Getting ready to travel is about making sure I have the right travel accessories on hand, all the time.

Every year there are new travel accessories and must have gadgets and every year, I have my ‘go to’ accessories that I just can’t leave home without.

Mobile Phone

Whilst I rarely use my phone for calls when I’m overseas, it’s where I keep my contacts, addresses and other information.  If I want to send a postcard to my favourite aunt … I have her details.  If my luggage goes astray, I have my insurance information.

There are several options to keep connected whilst overseas.

  • Switch to a global roaming plan before you leave home.  Make sure you check the costs.
  • Purchase a local data card when you arrive and swap out your home sim card.
  • Use WiFi at the hotel or coffee shop to access your emails, social media or internet.

Headphones

Travelling without headphones is no fun at all.

These Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones WH1000XM3 are my current favourites.  Great for listening and privacy for travelling.  High quality sound and no external noise!

Currently Sony WH100XM3 are ranked #1.

Tablet

When I’m going on a trip my Samsung Galaxy 10.5 Tablet is in my bag!

It’s lightweight, easy to slide into my carry-on and really good to use when flying for movies or typing up notes.  This tablet is a good size to access my social media, emails and web stats and keep on top of things while I’m away.

Good Compact Camera

Every traveller needs to have a good camera. My favourite is the Sony a6000 mirrorless camera and has been for a while.

If you’re looking for a great camera that is light to carry and pushes out quality photos in all lighting conditions, this is it.   Most of the posts on my blog feature photos from my a6000. I couldn’t be happier!

If you’re thinking of buying a camera, check out my post – How to use the Sony a6000.  You’ll be surprised at how simple it is.

Mini Tripod for compact Cameras

This Manfrotto Mini Tripod is perfect for compact cameras.  Lightweight and easy to pack in your luggage.

This Tripod is an excellent addition to your photography kit. Great for getting in the shot, selfies and setting up group photos.

Travel Adapter

Power outlets vary from country to country so this is a ‘must’ to travel everywhere.  Don’t risk frying your devices with the wrong voltage!

One just never knows when you will need a re-charge for your phone, your camera, tablet or laptop!   We use a Epicka Universal Travel Adapter which has been fantastic allowing us to charge all of our devices in no time at all.  Suits USA, EU, UK, AU

It’s easy to find one of these at the airport digital accessories shops or purchase through Amazon before you leave.

The best organiser ever!   This organizer keeps your accessories nice and tidy while travelling.

This Travel Cable Organizer is waterproof and has an electronics accessories pouch, thumb drives, cables, chargers, phones, USB and SD Cards.

Old fashioned tech tool

A notebook and pen!   Don’t forget to take one with you.

A notebook lover from way back, Moleskin Notebooks are my favourites.  I would find myself scribbling notes for my next blog post on any little piece of paper I found but today, the problem has been solved.

They’re great for capturing information or making quick notes in a crowded cafe and listing to-dos and travel ideas.  I’ve often leave a long flight with a plan to action!

Backpack for day use

Who says a backpack has to be bulky and boring?

We choose the Osprey DayLite Plus Daypack as our ‘go to’ when travelling.  It’s light and comfortable to wear proving to be a reliable travel companion for a weekend getaway or a quick city break.

It’s sturdy, fully adjustable backstraps will leave your arms and hands free to move, while its timeless, vintage-inspired design, which goes with nearly any look to make you feel stylish throughout your travels.
