A Charming Boutique Hotel in Toowoomba

Vacy Hall is a charming boutique hotel located in inner city Toowoomba and one of the most stunning hotels that I have ever visited.

Vacy Hall is set in over an acre of beautiful gardens offering guests a rare chance to experience a fine example of Toowoomba’s early history.

The hotel and their gardens are listed by the Queensland Heritage Council as a place of National Historical significance.

First built on site in 1873 but re-built after fire destroyed the building in 1898, this sprawling country guest house with wrap-around verandas and stunning gardens will take your breath away.  It has a presence!

Vacy Hall in Toowoomba is a Charming Boutique Hotel

Vacy Hall, ToowoombaFrom the moment we walked through the grand front doors we were impressed by the grandeur of Vacy Hall.  The decor is typical of the period, with artworks, fresh flowers from the garden and ornaments that you would expect to see in every country estate.

There was even an ‘Albert Namatjira’ hung in the hallway!   Albert Namatjira is Australia’s most famous Aboriginal watercolour artist.  I was very impressed!

Vacy Hall has 12 rooms available, ranging in size and comfort levels according to your preference.  Choose from grand four-poster beds, fireplaces and old-world styled bathrooms with claw-foot baths.  All decorated tastefully within the period so it’s a matter of selecting the right room for the occasion.

Ours was the honeymoon suite, beautifully decorated with luxurious furnishings.  An amazing four-poster bed topped with tons of pillows piled on top, lean crisp linen over a soft feather topper and the option of an electric blanket.  We had all the luxury we needed for a great night’s sleep.

Vacy Hall in Toowoomba - amazing accommodation

A cosy old Chesterfield placed in front of the fireplace provided the perfect opportunity to share a nightcap in front of the roaring fire.

We couldn’t have been more impressed!

Friendly Staff

The staff have a warm, friendly way about them.  We were met at reception by Chloe who very efficiently gave us a guided tour of Vacy Hall.

She greeted us the next day with ‘how are my favourite guests’ which was a pleasant surprise.   Nothing puts a smile on my face like natural warmth.  Great work Chloe!

Breakfast at Vacy Hall

Liz made us fresh coffee and cooked our breakfast the next morning as if we were one of the family.  I later learned that Liz has cooked breakfasts at Vacy Hall for over 30 years!

Choose from a range of fully cooked breakfasts or a Continental Breakfast option with Vacy specialties such as Vacy Swiss Muesli, or Lizzie’s famous Hot Porridge.

A friend commented that Lizzies porridge was the very best he’d ever eaten.

Vacy Hall’s heritage-listed garden

Vacy Hall, Toowoomba

Vacy Hall’s beautiful garden dates back over 140 years.  The original garden was laid out by the first curator of Toowoomba’s Botanic Gardens and is the foundation for the garden as we see it today.

Beautiful old trees including an ancient Cedar of Lebanon and a hundred year old Jacaranda tree provides shade to the entranceAgapanthus line the carriageway to provide a spectacular display when flowering.

The scent from the lavender garden waft into the morning air.  Rose gardens, brightly coloured Fuchsias and a hundred year old Camelia stands over 6 metres tall amongst the rhododendrons, azaleas and enormous stag and elkhorns line the verandahs.

Enjoy the Vacy Hall experience

It felt as if we had the whole house to ourselves!

Restored beautifully, this grand old manor house has focused on guest comfort and privacy.

Each room has its own ensuite bathroom and is designed so that you rarely see another guest in the hallways.

Relax on a veranda, enjoy a quiet afternoon glass of wine as you admire the beautiful gardens.  Strike up a conversation with other guests or simply read a book and enjoy your own space. The choice is yours.
